The recent spurts of sunshine in San Francisco have been wonderful. It’s become a weekly habit of mine to wander across the city donning back-revealing tank tops, letting the sunlight absorb into my skin as it dyes the pigments darker. I find that I’m just happier when I can see the blue in the sky and feel its heat in every cell.
For the past week I’ve been fighting this persistent cough that shakes me awake every night and leaves dark circles under my eyes. All I desire is some codeine cough syrup and a warm body spooning me, rather than the rattling coughs and dull pain in my temples that have been keeping me company for the past few nights.
Sun and sickness with no one to share or sympathize with can be quite lonely.
